ART
GREENHAW RECEIVES GRAMMY NOMINATION
As announced Dec. 7 in Los Angeles, Art
Greenhaw & The Light Crust
Doughboys have
received a Grammy
Nomination for
the album, 20TH
CENTURY
GOSPEL: FROM HYMNS TO BLACKWOOD BROTHERS TRIBUTE TO CHRISTIAN COUNTRY.
Produced by Grammy Award-winner and 7-time Grammy Award Nominee, Art
Greenhaw, the album 20TH CENTURY GOSPEL is especially meaningful
because Greenhaw is artistically joined not only with his band, but
with his vocal idols and mentors, The Jordanaires,
and his guitar idol and mentor, Nokie
Edwards. (See
archived NEWSLETTER Summer
2004 for Art's viewpoints on The Jordanaires). Says Greenhaw on
the day of his Grammy Nomination announcement, "My biggest
influences in guitar are Nokie Edwards and the band so closely
associated with him, The
Ventures. A
highlight of my recording career has been to create and perform with
Nokie, The Jordanaires, and my bandmates The Light Crust Doughboys,
and with this album, the stars have come together to form an epic
project that the thousands
of Grammy voters have named one of five best in its musical category:
Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album of the Year."
20TH CENTURY GOSPEL features Edwards, Art and The Light Crust
Doughboys playing classic hymns and anthems, The Jordanaires, Art and
The Light Crust Doughboys singing great gospel songs, a sprinkling of
fresh, new original compositions including the hot, hit song,
"Gospel Woman", and a taste of the historic Blackwood
Brothers Quartet circa 1970s featuring the southern gospel singer of
the century, James
Blackwood.
Art has said on many occasions that one of his highest honors was
being selected by James Blackwood to be James' pallbearer, and there
has been no greater singer and person in gospel music history than
James Blackwood.
