REFLECTIONS ON THE NEW TRINI LOPEZ ALBUM WITH ART...Coming soon at the MERCHANDISE pages of www.artgreenhaw.com
During the 2001 Christmas season, my musical hero and singing, guitar-playing and entertainment idol Trini Lopez returned to his Texas roots to begin work on an album I'd always dreamed he would record. The forever youthful and expressive voice, the famous Trini beat, the infectious rhythms flowing out of his Trini Lopez Deluxe Model Gibson guitar — and so much more — all came together like Jupiter in line with Mars over a period of weeks in Trini's hometown of Dallas to create some of the most exciting and innovative moments in Texas (or LA or New York or Nashville for that matter!) recording history.

Jesse Lopez, Trini Lopez & Art

Jesse Lopez, a great artist and sax/harmonica man, was there. Phil York, a great engineer and studio production ace, was there. Trini's whole family and my family — great supporters, true believers and the roots of our Texas values —  were there.

There's a story behind every song on this album, and the stories are about being "one" in a musical spirit. We musicians were "one" in the spirit on this album. I believe you'll be "one" in the spirit with us as you listen. When we played, sang and composed together, for some brief, shining moments, there was Camelot. For some of the songs, it was like we had "come home" to our best friends, family and faith. On some other songs, we'd journeyed to a place where our best girl is always the prettiest, where hamburgers are always the juiciest and where our guitars and cars are always the coolest. At every recording session for this album, the spirits of the patron saints of folk music, rockabilly and even all of American music seemed to be watching and guiding us as we created. And at the center of all the tracks is always Trini himself, like he's been for all my life's music (and probably your life's  music, too).

It warms our hearts that folks we admire like Trini's sister, Lucy, have said about this album's music, "It's the very best of the American spirit". Become one in that spirit with us, if you haven't already. Grab your Trini Model guitar, pack up all your cares and woes, get happy, sing along and join Trini and his Texas troubadours. Your roots may not be in Texas, but we know you got here as fast as you could! Here's to the "whole enchilada" (to borrow a phrase Trini coined)...for you and yours...of love between our brothers and our sisters...all over this land.
